In a stunning upset, racing newcomer John Doe appeared to come out of nowhere to win this year’s Grand Prix de Monaco.
“Who,” asked sportscasters who came from around the globe to cover the prestigious and exciting event.
This was Doe’s first official race. In fact, there was much confusion when Doe crossed the finish line, having been the first driver to have successfully navigated the hairpin turns, tunnels and tiny city streets that are the race course. Once across, officials had difficulty identifying who the mysterious driver was.
Apparently Doe hadn’t intended to race, at all, but only was looking for a parking spot so that he could observe as one of the many fascinated spectators.
“I must have taken a wrong turn or something,” he said later. “Because all of the sudden, I was in the race, myself.”
“I figured I might as well keep going,” he said. “It seemed like a once-in a lifetime opportunity.”
To say the least. Now, Doe has become the racing world’s most sought-after celebrity. Will he race again? Only time will tell.
